A long hiatus

When I was in college I took a writing class in which the teacher required the students to pick an article in a national magazine and write a letter to the editor regarding said article.  I happened to choose the magazine Church and State.  The article that I commented on was regarding abortion.  As you might well guess this article was against abortion in all forms.  My opinion at the time was to leave the constitution alone.  I did not agree with abortion but I also did not agree with taking rights away from people.  I come from a belief that just before Jesus returns to the earth that the world will be under a false religion and people will be required by law to break the forth commandment.   This belief edges me toward the position that the constitution should not be meddled with.  What I didn't know or really understand at the time was that a supreme court had already meddled with it in regards to abortion.  They gave rights to women where there were none.  It is funny that our declaration of independence mentions that humans have certain rights given to them by their Creator.  The first and foremost is the right to LIFE.  How can the constitution imply that life, even if it is unborn, can be terminated by the choice of another?  Well anyone using common sense knows the answer to that question.
This brings me to a story.  When I was a young boy, around 12-13 years old, I had a good friend who got pregnant.  She was 13.  She decided to have the baby.  What a young age to become an adult.  How could this young child carry and deliver a baby much less raise and care for it?   I questioned in my young mind whether she should have an abortion.  How could she give up her youth like that?  Now a typical abortion supporter would use her as evidence that abortion should stay legal.  But her story defies these claims.  She and her family moved away and I lost touch with her for 30 years.  I always wondered how her life and the life of her son turned out.  I was blessed to reconnect with her after all these years and a beautiful story unfolded.  She went through some very rough times.  She eventually married the boy that she made the apparent mistake with all those years ago.  They have been together ever since and are happily married.  They have 2 more children together.    Her son is now 30 years old and is in training to become a minister for God.  Her and her son have made it through those hard times and a champion for Jesus was created.  The old adage "God works in mysterious ways" rings true again.   My dear friend is a prime example of how God can and will make something positive come out of a negative situation.  I still cannot bring myself to scream for the banning of abortion but I can say this,  if a woman is left with the with the right to choose, there is good reason to choose NOT to have an abortion.  Let God work out the tough stuff.

Jesus Was Apolitical

In my brief time following politics I have heard several times from prominent Democrats that Jesus was a liberal.  It has been argued that Jesus was a conservative. All this based on His actions as recorded in the Bible.  With further study of the life of Jesus, one who possesses sanity would have to conclude that Jesus was way beyond politics.
Let's say for the sake of argument that Jesus was the Son of God as the Bible teaches.  His mindset would not have been focused on politics at all.  His mission was to be an example to mankind on how to live according to the will of the Father and to pay the punishment for sin in the place of all mankind, that punishment being death. (Romans 6:23)
If you read about Jesus you will see that the majority of His life was spent either in prayer to God, preaching and teaching salvation or healing mankind's sufferings.  He did not make statements such as "Ceasar lied, people died!"  He did not petition that local brothels be closed down in the name of morality.  He did not advocate redistribution of wealth.  He told the rich young ruler to sell ALL of his belongings and give to the poor but Christ also commissioned him to follow Him.
Whenever someone states that Jesus was of a political lean you can know that Christ's only care was to obey God and the salvation of mankind from their sins.
